Although my little one doesn't go to school I'm sure there are many parents that are both excited and anxious for there little people to be going back to school. My wife and I have contemplated when our son does begin school if and what school he would go to here in Kalamazoo. We even considered the fact that we may not even be in Kalamazoo when he does begin school but we still have lots of time to decide what were going to do.
In all honesty I couldn't image sending my little guy to school but with him turning two soon we have considered enrolling him into an educational center here in town to help him build more social skills and be around more children his age. It's a bit nerve recking knowing that with my wife and I having gone on tours of centers here in town we've actually chosen one that he may be attending this fall. I guess in some sense we are just like those parent's who are sending there little one's off to school and I've tried to avoid it for so long but I know how beneficial it will be for him. The good thing about our little guy and getting him into an educational center is that even now he is very social and enjoys being around other kids. For a few weeks now we've been visiting a local church and taking him to daycare so that we can enjoy service. Initially we we're a nervous reck me more then my wife but we found comfort knowing that he was fine where he was and that we could enjoy church peacefully together.
For those of you who are just joining my blog when my son was first born my wife stayed on while on maternity leave for 3 months while I worked a few odds jobs about resigning from my job in mental health after almost 5 years. It was too exhausting physically, mentally and emotionally to where I thought I would go crazy if I stayed. The day my son was born was the day I decided to walk away from the one place I depended on to provide for me and my family. It was scary but it was well worth it because after my wife returned back to work I stayed home for 9 month allowing me to finish my Associates Degree before retuning back to work last September. My son has never known anyplace outside his home so for my wife and I to consider a place for him to go while we work is both scary and nerve recking but we're both looking forward to the continued growth we are to see in him. He's so smart and we only want him to continue to grow and develop even the more so enrolling him is only going to help him in the long run. This is me convincing myself that everything is going to be alright with him because inside I'm still going crazy with the thought of the idea. I've always told my wife that I wasn't opposed to the idea but that I would rather for him to be able to have a full conversation with me before enrolling him just in case daddy had to go crazy on people if they didn't do right by him. But I know that he will be fine and God will continue to give me the needed comfort to feel that were making the right choice.
For so long I was against the thought of enrolling him just as I said before because of the fear of something happening to him. Even after I returned to work initially part-time my wife and I had a system where we would meet at my job to switch cars and once I went full-time earlier this year we brought in a babysitter full-time so that we wouldn't have to worry about putting him somewhere we weren't familiar with. Let me add a disclaimer that he will not be going into this learning center full-time simply because my wife and I aren't ready for it but I can imagine those parents who either have to choice or those parents who would rather for their children to be full-time.
Either way school is back in and I'm quite sure the store were full today and probably will be for the rest of the week with parent's shopping to make sure there children have everything they need to start the school year off right. There are many parents who go all out for there children on school supplies but lets not forget the store that help you keep price down and allows you to get everything you need for you kids first days at school. Dollar Tree where everything is one dollar is your go to store in making sure you kids have everything they need. Have a great school year parents and get back to enjoying that quite house and productive days when the kids step out of the house tomorrow.
