A few weeks ago my wife I and decided that it was time for our son to get his first haircut. It was something that I'd been dreading for some time since I don't go to the barber and haven't since I began shaving my head a few years ago. I have very valid reason for not wanting to go but understood that as time went on my son hair would only grow out of control where I would be forced to get it cut. He actually has a really good head of hair like his mother but at times it's difficult to get it to cooperate the way I'd like it to but it hardly ever happens with him growing up so fast.
It was obvious as time went on that it was time to get it cut due to him over the past few months where he'd begin to pull on his hair which became quite annoying for my wife and I because it began to create bald spots in his head. The pulling was something that initially happened only occasionally but as time went on he began to pull it more when he was eating or when he was upset. I thought we'd end up keeping his hair for a while but understood that it needed to get done and it wasn't like it couldn't grow back.
When the day came to get it cut I was pretty nervous because it was difficult to decide where we would go since I didn't go to the barber. All in all we decided to go to a place that was recommended to my wife and I and with it being so early in the day there weren't any other customers. I sat in the chair with him and for lack of better words my son is very intuitive and makes sure he know what's going on at all times like his mother. As the cap when on and we explained what we wanted I expected my son to go haywire because here where these loud clippers that were coming at him but before we knew it as time when on with the cutting he sat the longest he's sat in a very long time since he's always on the go. My wife and I also decided it may be good to play the phonics to help distract him even the more as the haircut when on which actually worked. It wasn't until the nursery rhymes began and the music became more enjoyable that he wanted to dance to the music and move around. All in all he did very well and where as most kids would be very into there head/hair after it was cut when it was all said and done all he wanted to go was run around the shop.
I'm pretty partial since I'm daddy but I must say he looks very handsome after getting his hair cut. It makes him look like he's growing up so fast before my eyes.
