"In this weeks blog I was contacted by a representative of SchooLinks, a company that helps prospective college students to universities. After talking to their representative Kara and learning about their start-up, I had her write a blog post to give you more information about your children and their college future. Check out below what she had to say!"
In our current day and age, there are more students than ever who want to achieve a higher education after high school. Although this is great, that means that there are more students vying for the same, limited number of spots that universities can offer. Taking the PSAT used to be an indication of starting to think about your college search, but now there are middle schools that have college-focused programs and parents have already begun to pay for tutors to get their students into top schools.
Now before you let those racing thoughts take over your mind, BREATHE, because there is a site out there that is designed to help students get into the colleges that is right for them. I am here to introduce you to a company called SchooLinks, an education platform that connects prospective college students with universities around the world.
To begin, a student will create a profile and fill in personal data and academic information, such as GPA, extra-curricular activities, awards, etc. Based off of the profile, students will be matched to consultants in their area as well as scholarships they are eligible for. Universities also have their own profiles, which includes academic information, pictures and videos, as well as reviews. Currently, there are over 2,000 schools managing their profile, and they can message and recruit students directly on SchooLinks.
SchooLinks also provides money-saving features such as Virtual Reality Tours, where students can access tours of over 600 schools including UCLA, Stanford, Harvard, and more. These tours will save you hundreds on travel expenses, while showing the entirety of campuses, from the buildings to dorms. Lastly, there is the incredibly unique feature in the Scholarship Center called “Recommended For You.” As mentioned earlier, students will be automatically paired with scholarships they are eligible for, which saves students hours of fruitless searching and increases their chances to earn funding.
SchooLinks offers countless other features, from the “My Chances” probability calculator (displayed on each school profile), students can use to determine the likelihood of getting in, to the “Talk” Section where students can post questions and get advice from admissions officers and college consultants. But don't just take my word on how great the site is, check it out for yourself at http://www.schoolinks.com.
